Film #47: THE APPLE
1 out of 5 stars
An absolute pile of shit. Directed by Menaham Golan (who reportedly tried to jump out of a hotel window after leaving a screening of the film where people started laughing out loud at the midway point) and starring Catherine Mary Stewart and George Gilmour (who was never seen or heard from again), the film was made as an attempt to cash in on the success of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (and essentially a tax shelter for Golan). According to sources, audiences at a screening in Hollywood at the Paramount Theater threw complimentary soundtracks at the screen which damaged the screen. Yes, the film is THAT bad. Set it on the shelf next to other messes like CAN’T STOP THE MUSIC and XANADU. Fans of ‘so bad, it’s good” films may find something here, but… even nostalgic fans will tap out on THE APPLE.
