Film #335: SURVIVING PROGRESS
3 out of 5 stars
SURVIVING PROGRESS is a documentary that compares Mankind’s technological advancements with his cultural…and how those both might inform our future on the planet. Cutting to the chase: there’s a lot of “doom-n-gloom” in this documentary. Directed by Mathieu Roy & Harold Brooks (who craft a cascade of eye-pleasing images), the film features an amazing collection of talking heads: Stephen Hawking, Margaret Atwood, David Suzuki, Jane Goodall, and Ronald Wright. The narrative focuses on everything from the environment to how the economy is itself a parasitic organization. Again, the film is eye-pleasing and informative which makes SURVIVING PROGRESS utterly watchable… just know that the film most definitely has an agenda.
