Dead Horse Beats INGLATERRA
This record by multi-instrumentalist, Patrick Wade gives us a surprisingly soulful electro-ambient record that is groovable / danceable without being brain-dead and without merit (which imo a lot of that stuff can be). Instead, INGLATERRA is fun, sophisticated and PERFECT for that sunny afternoon. I liked this one WAY more than I thought I would. Fun and highly recommended!
Flying Lotus FLAMAGRA
File under: Acid Jazz, I guess… TWENTY-SEVEN songs ranging from a single minute to 4:35 that sound like sketches of other, better, songs. Funky-ish… but unfocused and, well… boring. The record has a moment or two, but… everything just feels undeveloped. The sole highlight is David Lynch telling a story on “Fire Is Coming.” Pity… I’d hoped for better based on FL’s reputation.
